Disinfection of water with ozone is not good because
it vanishes before water reaches the consumers
it removes the colour, taste and odour from water as bacterias
it adds taste to the water
it is more efficient than chlorine in killing bacterias
none of these.

Option A is correct.

Ozone is a highly unstable gas that breaks down rapidly into oxygen, often within a few seconds to 30 minutes, depending on the water chemistry.

This means it does not provide a residual disinfectant effect in the water as it travels through the distribution system to consumers. A persistent residual is essential to protect the water supply from potential recontamination in the pipes after leaving the treatment plant.

Ozone treatment isn't widely used for municipal water supplies because it disappears too quickly, making it unreliable for maintaining water safety over long distances.

Ozone when added in water breaks down into normal oxygen and releases nascent oxygen. Which is a strong oxidising agent that carries out both the removal of organic matter and microorganisms from the water.

But it is highly unstable hence nothing remains in the water till it reaches the distribution system.

Hence it does not safeguard against future recontamination of the water.
(ii) It gives a pleasant taste to water, unlike chlorinated water which becomes bitter.
(iii) It destroyed the cell wall of microorganisms to carry out the disinfection.

Correct answer is Option A because it is less effective to convey long pipe treatmen. And lost itself before it reach consumer point.
