Both sharp-crested and broad-crested weirs require that the approaching flow be sub-critical. Neither weir will operate in its usual accuracy range in the presence of critical or super-critical flow.

Broad crested weir used for large rivers, irrigation channel.

Sharp crested weirs are for small discharge.

The sharp crested weir generally used to measure the accurate rate of flow of small water channel where water less in quantity to measure with broad crest weir.

I think the answer should be Option B.

Sharp-crested weirs are very accurate discharge meters. They are commonly used for small flow rates.

So, Option B is the right answer.
