For separate system circular Cross section used. For combined, egg-shaped sewers are generally used.

For a combined system, egg-shaped sewer is suitable because it gives SELF CLEANING velocity to sewage.

For Combined System = Egg Shaped, because lower portion of egg shaped sewer is used in low discharge and upper large section used in high discharge condition.

Egg shaped sewer is used in combined sewer because in combined sewer flow of sewage in egg-shaped sewer is better than the circular sewer.
