The given answer i.e. option (A) is correct.

Alum is used as a coagulant for treating drinking water as Alum is used in water supply schemes, not in sewage and wastewater.

The given answer is right.

If alum used as a coagulant in sewerage it will produce huge amount of precipitate which will cause dispose problem, that's why alum is not used as a coagulant in sewerage.
