How can we solve this problem? Please help me.

They have given velocity value 1.5m/s.

Unit of velocity=m/s. And data is insufficient to solve, so please help me.

I think the given question is wrong.

Because units of discharge is cubic meter per sec.

What are the units of discharge?

Can you verify that once in question?

It means we have to design the sewer for high velocity.

I think they have to give slope of channel & manning constant then only we can approach to solve.

Here we can't assume the velocity direct as designing of sewer relates to max and min conditions of flow.

Answer depends on velocity which is not given.

For sewer velocity is 0.9m/sec to 0.75. So Q = AV.

Given b =2d and Q = 1.5.
Then A = Q/v, bd = 1.5/0.9 = 1.67.

(2d)d = 1.67, d = 0.91.
Hence b = 2(0.91) = 1.82 m.

Sewers are never running full, however the answer relates to full pipe discharge. And it is not really correct to relate the unit "m/sec" to discharge as this relates to velocity.
