Let setling velocity = 1.0 m/sec.
Q = A.V (b=2h given)
A = Q/V.
b * (b/2) = 1.5/1.0,
B = 1.73m.

Min velocity consider as 0.44m/sec.

Here, Take velocity v = 0.45m/sec.

Considering minimum velocity for effective flow I.e, 0.45m/sec.

A =Q/V => 1.5/0.45=3.333.
Area (A) => width b=2d , depth = d.
A= (2d)*d = 3.333.
d = 1.29m.

It is critical velocity case b=d/2.

@Roy

Te answer is 1.76 because of 0.88x2=1.76.

Kindly help me,

If ::h = 0.88 then by width= 2h, it becomes equal to = 1.76.

Assume velocity of flow as 1m/s given discharge Q= 1.5m3/s A=Q/V WIDTH=2HEIGHT, b *h=2h * h=2h^2=Q//v=1.5/1, h=0.88, W=1.36.
