We know the change in length in the prismatic bar due to self-weight is YL^2/2E.

So, L becomes double so the value will be increased by four times.

Here, it's talking about keeping self-weight same so if we increase cross-section the weight will automatically increase. So here to keep weight same we use specific weight instead of its own weight.
