Yes, thin sheets (MS or SS) Cannot withstand higher temperatures during welding so they get disorted& deform easily. So proper sheet thickness has to be maintained for perfect joint welding. But here actually statement refers to when two suitable metals, with appropriate thickness & chemical composition, when subjected to welding they don't deform.
