The formula is T2/T1 = (D2/D1)^2.

For single drainage face, time (ts) = 4 years to attain 50% consolidation.
For double drainage face, time (td) = 1/4 & time taken for single drainage face to attain 50% consolidation.
td = 1/4 x 4 = 1 year.
For double drainage face, time (td) = 1/4 & time taken for single drainage face to attain 50% consolidation.
td = 1/4 x 4 = 1 year.

D1 is 1 because for single drainage d=H and for double drainage d=H/2.

T is proportional to square of depth.
t2 = t1*(d2/d1)^2.
= 4*(.5/1)^2.
= 1 year.
t2 = t1*(d2/d1)^2.
= 4*(.5/1)^2.
= 1 year.
