If chain length is shorter than the original length then its -ve cumulative error in chaining. And if the length of the chain is longer then it's +ve cumulative error.

How to call the actual length if distance measured (300m)is given along with this same question?

If chain length is shorter than the original length then its +ive cumulative error in chaining. And if length of chain is longer than -ive cumulative error.
