1.
An ideal transition curve is
cubic parabola
cubic spiral
clothoid spiral
true spiral.
Answer: Option
Explanation:

IRC recommends Spiral or clothoid as the ideal transition curve due to following reasons:

1. It satisfies that rate of change of centrifugal acceleration is constant i.e., Ls.R = constant. Where Ls = length of transition curve R = radius of curve.

2. The calculation and field implementation of spiral curve is simple and easy.

3. It enhances aesthetics also.

Radius and centrifugal acceleration are change gradually and setting out of curve easy, jerk problem can be prevented in spiral/clothoid transition curve.

Ideal shape of transition curve=clothoid spiral or true spiral.

And curve recommend by IRC is cubic spiral.

The equation of ideal transition curve usually called as CLOTHOID spiral or GLOVER spiral or EULER spiral.

It's a wrong answer.

The right answer should be lemniscate curve. But it is not given in the option.

Curves fulfilling equation of an ideal transition curve are known as "Clothoids or true spirals".

For Highway - Lemniscate is best.

For Railway - Cubic parabola and cubic spiral is recommended.
