Crosshairs are placed much closer to the eyepiece than to the objective lens.

Given Answer is correct because Crosshair is placed on an optical center of the diaphragm which is in front of an eyepiece.

So option (d) is right.

The cross hair is not a point that can place at the optical centre it is a diagram in the front of the eye piece.
