The stepping method is more convenient and gives better results while measuring horizontal distance dow and the hill.

But here it is difficult to obtain good results up hill.

So the given answer is correct.

Option A is correct. To obtain better results, chaining is done from top of hill to the toe i.e. downhill.

If stepping uphill, follower will have the difficult job of holding the tape, horizontal and with the end vertically over the previous arrow.

So, downhill stepping is preferred.

If you are doing stepping then why it is needed to holding the tape?

So down the hill is difficult to perform.
