Max BM is at the center of the beam (get when drawing shear force diagram). Calculate BM on any side. When we look left side. There are two forces having magnitude w each and opposite in direction and distance from center of the beam to each of the forces are L/2 and L/6. Then BM = (WL/2- WL/6) = WL/3. (-ve sign is moments are opposite each other).
