Hooke's law is nothing but stress is directly proportional to strain which only occurs in proportionality limit, elastic limit means under stress material expands and after removal of stress it regains its original shape but while this stress is not proportional to strain so Hooke's law is applicable only in proportionality limit.

Elastic limit is the only option which is correct.

I do not agree with given answer. And if given answer is correct, mention the explanation.

Hooke's laws is hold good upto Proportional Limit, but every Material obeys Hooke's laws upto elastic limit. Answer should be Option A.

Option C is correct because the limit of proportionality is slightly less than the limit of elasticity.

Hook's law valid up to proportion limit & within the elastic limit.

Eg. Cast iron.

Hooks law because stress is directly proportional to strain.

Why Option [A]. Elastic limit is the wrong answer?

Elastic limit is also the right answer.
