If you say greater then for any value higher than 82 column will yield, it's not true if slenderness ratio is very high it mean it can buckle easily without yielding. For yielding to occur column should be short. So SR should be less the 92 for yielding.

According to Euler, a column is considered long if it greater than 81. 5 & we know that in long column failure is mainly due to elastic buckling & in short column, failure is mainly due to crushing or yielding. So it must be less 81.5 or 82.
