Equating two equation p/A(1-6e/L) = 0.
p/A(1+6e/L) = 2P/BL we get e = L/6.
p/A(1+6e/L) = 2P/BL we get e = L/6.

As bearing stress variation is triangular avg stress=(2p/BL)÷2 (here it is not mentioned about what is L and what is B so I assumed that L =depth and B=width of section) and frob bending stress formula calculate another stress and compare both the stress you will get the answer.
