Horizontal distance called pitch and vertical distance called gauge distance but here lines are more than one line so between rivet line of pitch is called staggered pitch.

Here, it is said parallel, so gauge distance should be correct.

Option c is right because he said distance is measure in the parallel direction of load.

For guage, distance is measured in the perpendicular direction of load.
