The correct term for the maximum possible value of dry density is "saturation dry density."
Here's why:
- Dry density refers to the mass of solids in a given volume of soil when it is completely dry.
- Zero air voids represents the state where there is no air in the soil's voids, and the soil is fully saturated with water, but it doesn't specifically refer to the maximum dry density.
- Saturation dry density refers to the dry density of the soil when it is fully saturated with water, meaning all the void spaces are filled with water, and it represents the maximum dry density that can be achieved under the given conditions.
Thus, the maximum possible dry density that can occur is called saturation dry density.

Please explain. How zero air void is not maximum than all other?

Actually, dry density is saturation dry density mostly.
