In my opinion, B is the right answer because the pile cap can comprise of min 2piles on which a column rests, and I've used 2 piles to support a column on the field too.

I have seen a pile foundation where 2 piles support the single column and also 3 piles entirely support 1 column. In my view, two piles is sufficient to support 1 column.
