ANS is (E) The Swedish circle method, also known as the method of slices, is a general method, which is equally applicable to homogeneous soils, stratified soils, fully or partially submerged soils, non-uniform soils, and for cases where seepage and pore pressure exist within the soil slope.

The method of slices is a general approach to slope stability analysis that can be applied to a wide range of soil conditions and slope geometries, including:

* Homogeneous soils.
* Stratified soils.
* Saturated soils.
* Non-uniform slopes.
* Slopes with seepage.

In homogenous soil, each slices contain the same property. And a single slice is enough to analyse the all slices property.

Vertical slides are taken for slopes stability analysis.

For that soil must be homogenous.

No, it isused for stratified soil and non homogenous. Ref: Arora book.
