If effe Length/radius of gyration >=50 it's call long column and for mild steel it's value is 80.

A short steel column is one whose slenderness ratio does not exceed 50 in case of steel column.

It is RCC Column. Hence, IS:456-2000 is only applicable. For long columns, SR should be more than 12 but less than 60.

In RCC radius of gyration>12 then long column; if <12 short column.
In STEEL, column radius of gyration>200 then long column; if <=50 short column; if inbetween 40-200 then intermediate column.
