According to LSM Design the answer should be 1/5 th of the span.

Reinforcement is provided where the bending moment is maximum to make section economical. In slabs, a bending moment is maximum at center. So according to IS code, we will curtail the reinforcement from support at a distance of 1/7 the of the span.

Why the curtailment is at that particular point? Tell me the concept or reason behind it.
