3 times the efficient depth but not more than 600 mm in case of main bars. But in case of distribution bars 6 times the efficient depth.

Spacing main bars = 3 times the depth.
Transverse bars = 5 times (according to RS Khurmi).

Distribution steel 5Depth And 450 mm whichever is less.
