Specific energy is the total head with respect to the channel bottom. It is a summation of the velocity head and the depth of flow at a given cross section. Hence the given answer is right.

Cause p/w=y =pressure head.
Specific energy=pressure head + velocity head.

Given Answer is correct as SP,
Energy = kinetic energy of flow +potential energy flow.
