Here it ask about the Width, not depth so, B is the correct answer.

According to Discharge of the rectangular channel given Ans is correct but

According to the Most economical rectangular channel, the Ans Should be C.

D is the correct option. Since the condition B=2d is for max discharge not for most Economical sections.

For later HMD=1/2 depth.

B is the correct answer.

As for most economical rectangular section,
D =b/2 => b = 2D.

Ans B is correct.

The Depth of flow should be twice (discharge).
Depth will be half for hydraulic depth or radius.

I agree @Satyawan.

Why it is so?

The width of the rectangular section should be half to the depth of the section. So C is the correct answer.

The discharge through a channel of rectangular section is maximum when its breadth is twice the depth.

In rectangular channel why the width is double?
