Sub-grade 0.6-1 m above HFL of the water table and P. Index of subgrade >1.
For Fine Sand Cut-Off Layer = 350mm.
For Coarse Sand=150mm.
For Coarse Gravel=150mm.

In general, sense, if the embankment is already above the water table then there is no need to prevent the sub-grade from moisture, hence it is zero.
@Akshay.
If both are at the same level or if the water table equals or above the embankment then only measures were taken.

In this Que.
The correct Answer is 0 cm. Because there is enough distance between subgrade and water-table.
But, If subgrade and Water- table both are at the same level then the thickness of cut off the layer of coarse sand is 15 cm.

For this case, the answer shall be 15cm as the code specifies that this capillary cut off in no case shall be at a height less than 15cm from the HFL.

Course sand 15cm.
Fine sand 30cm.
Cutoff depth required.
