According to RS KHURMI;

The breast wall is constructed on the hillside of the roadway to retain the earth from slippage.

The wall may be kept 60 cm thick throughout and sloped along the natural slope of the earth it has to protect.

Wall provided on hill side of hill road =>breast wall.

And on valley side of hill road => retaining wall.
