When staff reading decrease the land or road has Rising Gradient.
When staff reading increase the land or road has Falling Gradient.
So in this question there is a Rising gradient so option B is correct.

I think the answer should be (C).
A to C, the RL is increasing. If we consider a fix line of collimation, then the staff should descend so as to increase the staff reading.
The staff reading increases, if the level of ground descends.
I believe It's negative gradient.
Please clarify it.
