The following statements are made based on this diagram :
  1. Mateiral A is more brittle than material B.
  2. The ultimate strength of material B is more than that of A.

With reference to the above statements, which of the following applies ?

See the graph material B can not take more stress than A means option 1 is not right.

But after deformation material B resist same stress not decline in stress value but A deformed and collapse suddenly than need not more stress for further deformation which proved the ultimate strength of B is more than A.

Option D is right.

Option C is correct.

You can see from the graph of A. It can take more stress suddenly the line stops means it is broken. So it is brtittle as it cannot take any more strain (or deformation).

B is again elongating under the stress till the breaking point so the material is like a ductile material. But the ultimate stress it can take is less than A. So option C.
