The storage coefficient, S can be expressed as;

S = γ(nβ+α)B

The storage coefficient S represents the volume of water released by a column of a confined aquifer of the unit cross-sectional area under a unit decrease in the piezometric head,

Where γ=ρd = weight of unit volume water.

β = compressibility of water.
α = compressibility of pores.
B = thickness of the aquifer.
