If peak discharge is taken as 24m3 means Qp=24m3.

And area of trapezium is h/2(a+b) means=Qp/2(a+b)x60x60=Area x 10^4 by solving this we are getting 138.24km^2.

Just help me out how would you get the catchment as 384 km^2

Volume of the catchment = A*(1/100).

= 1/2*(28+4)*3600*24 = A*(1/100).

A = 138.24*10^6 m^2.

A = 138.24 km^2.

@Jyothi, @Ankit.

Actually, you both find the area in km2 and in answer area is given in m2.

How? explain.

Trapezium area = ((a+b)/2)*h.
a = 4
b = 28
h = 24.

Trapezoid area=1/2*(a+b)*h.

A = 0.5 * (4+28) * 24 = 384 m^2.

B is the right one Area = volume of unit hydrograph/depth.

Depth =1cm so1/100.

Trapezoidal area = 1/2 (a+b)*h m^2
= 1/2 (4+28)*24 m^2,
= 384m^2.

Area under curve/depth (1 cm).

The volume of catchment = A * 1/100.
1/2 (4+28) * 24 * 3600 = A/100.
A = 138240000 M^2.
A = 138.24 KM^2.
