Side wall width=d*√(1+s^).
Area of side wall =width*length
So L*d*√(1+s^) is one sloping side.
Area of side wall =width*length
So L*d*√(1+s^) is one sloping side.

Here area of side slopes at both faces;
2LD√(1+s^2), so the answer should be an option (D).
2LD√(1+s^2), so the answer should be an option (D).

I think the answer should be (D) as area of the sloping surface of a protective embankment indicate both sides of the section.

C is correct. Because in question, they want the area of slopping side. So only one sloping sides area will be the answer.

The answer should be D as here it is not asked for only one side of slope hence we will consider both side of slopes.
