1:3:6 means we should use the 1 part cement, 3 part fine aggregate and 6 part coarse aggregate of concrete mix by weight or volume.

Ziyad said:   1 decade ago
Its weak con. Because little cement used so its absolutely 1:3:6 as used under foundations.

As per IS code 456 - 2000.
M10 - 1:3:6 mix (approx).

For M5 1:4:8.

M10 1:3:6.

M15 1:2:4.

M20 1:1.5:3.

By comparing M10 and M15 we can see that for more strength ratio is decreasing. Just remember M10 then M20/M15 and all other mix become easy to understand.

Please help me for the method of calculation in mixing ratio in all grade of concrete mix.

1:3:6 Mix of concrete is used where. I mean in columns, slabs, beams etc. Tell it specifically. Waiting for reply from all respected members.

Baldev said:   1 decade ago
M10 mix is never used in column, slabs or beams. It is a layer of cement concrete separating the earth to the main concrete in foundation or you can say it is only used in foundation.

M10 mix was only used for foundation purpose. Because that having less compressive strength.

M-5 1:5:10.
M-7.5 1:4:8.
M-10 1:3:6.
M-15 1:1.5:3.
M-20 1:2:4.
M-25 1:1:2.

All of the above grade are made by design mix method.
