Aswer should be zone 4. Zoning start from coarser to finer. So, zone 4 is the finer one. For finer sand surface area is more so more high water cement ratio.

Zone iv have more void than zone I. so more void requires more cement and water so answer should be D.

Answer. Should be zone 4. Because zone 4 is finer than other zone so, It's surface area is more. And More surface area required More w/c ratio.

Fine sand bulking is large. So the answer is Zone-4.

Answer must be D because finer sand has more surface area to coarse sand. And more surface area needs more water to lubricate. So the correct answer is D.

The answer must be (d) because zone 4 contains fine sand grading and therefore it has a large surface area and required more paste to fill up these voids.

@All,
Here, the question is not talking about water it's is taking about ratio if water is increased cement will also increase in zone 4 so it's experimental that zone 1 requires less w/c ratio.

Zone 4 requires high water cement ratio because in fine sand fineness increases, surface area also increases.

Zone 4 is required more w/c ratio. Beacuse zone 4 is more finer than zone 1. And fine sand more surface area and more surface are more required w/c.

The correct answer is Zone IV.
As per the Indian Standard (IS) 383, the zones for sand are classified based on the fineness modulus, which is a measure of the sand's gradation.
Zone IV corresponds to very coarse sand, which typically requires a higher water-cement ratio.
