Soundness test is performed to determine a durability of cement.
There are two type of soundness test:-.
1. Le Charlier test- to measure the unsoundness due to lime and magnesia (both).
2. Autoclave test - to measure the unsoundness due to magnesia only.
Note:- there is no test to measure unsoundness due to lime only.

The ability of cement to retain its volume after it gets hardened is known as Soundness of Cement. That means the cement should be at minimum volume change after it gets hardened.
The test conducted to identify the excess amount of lime in cement is known as soundness test of cement.

When referring to portland cement, "soundness" refers to the ability of a hardened cement paste to retain its volume after setting without delayed destructive expansion (PCA, 1988).
This destructive expansion is caused by excessive amounts of free lime (CaO) or magnesia (MgO).

Le Chatelier procedure determines unsoundness due to free lime CaO only, whereas the autoclave test measures expansion due to either free CaO, free MgO, or both.
So the answer is correct.
So the answer is correct.

A soundness test is used to know the resistance agency weathering action. In open weather conditions how much amount cemented material expands or shrinks.

No @Sourabh.
Le chattier Is used for free lime only.
Auto clave can be used for both lime and magnesia. Also it is quantity not quality.

Soundness test also measures the presence of free magnesia. Le Charlier and autoclaves apparatus are used for measuring unsoundness.

The Le-chatlier's Method helps us to determine the lime present in the cement in excess. The excess lime causes expansion of cement.

Le Chateliers method for unsoundness due to Free Lime only.
Autoclaved Method for unsoundness due to both free lime and magnessia.
