Soundness mainly are caused by three material.
1. Lime (check by blames air permeability test).
2. Alumina (check by Le-Chatelier test).
3. Sulphur (no apparatus are available to check).

Le- Le-Chatelier’s apparatus is used to conduct soundness tests.
Vicat Apparatus is used to find the proper amount to be added to the cement.
