7.
Elastomers can extend upto
five times their original dimensions
seven times their original dimensions
ten times their original dimensions
three times their original dimensions.
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Elastomers are a type of polymer that are known for their ability to stretch and deform under stress and then return to their original shape when the stress is removed. This property, called elasticity, is what gives elastomers their name. Elastomers can stretch to great lengths, often up to ten times their original dimensions, without breaking or permanently deforming. This makes them useful in a variety of applications, such as seals, gaskets, and shock absorbers, where a flexible and durable material is needed.

Elastomer is a polymer with viscoelasticity (having both viscosity and elasticity) and very weak inter-molecular forces, generally having low Young's modulus and high failure strain compared with other materials. The term, which is derived from elastic polymer, is often used interchangeably with the term rubber, although the latter is preferred when referring to vulcanisates. Each of the monomers which link to form the polymer is usually made of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen or silicon. Elastomers are amorphous polymers existing above their glass transition temperature so that considerable segmental motion is possible. At ambient temperatures, rubbers are thus relatively soft (E~3MPa) and deformable. Their primary uses are for seals, adhesives and moulded flexible parts. Application areas for different types of rubber are manifold and cover segments as diverse as tires, shoe soles, and damping and insulating elements. The importance of rubbers can be judged from the fact that global revenues are forecast to rise to US$56 billion in 2020.

Rubber like solids with elastic properties are called elastomers. Polymer chains are held together in elastomers by weakest intermolecular forces. This weak binding forces permit the polymers to be stretched. Natural rubber, neoprene rubber, buna-s and buna-.

Elastomer are the material with fibres which can extend upto 10 times their dimension and they can revert to their original dimension when the stress is released and hystersis loop is formed,

Elastomers are used in bridge girder support like neoprene bearing pad, also for the base isoloation in earthquake proof building neoprene bearing is used.

Elastomer materials are those materials that are made of polymers that are joined by chemical bonds, acquiring a final slightly cross linked structure.

The main characteristic of elastomer materials is the high elongation and flexibility or elasticity of these materials, against its breaking or cracking.

Polymer is a compound containing carbon chain in their chemical composition while elastomers are those polymers which have elastic properties. Elastomers can be used as joint sealant.

Elastomer is a high elasticity for other materials it is more fabric and low strength. It can be stretched to 10 time of it's original dimension and weekest inter molecular force.

Elastomer is a polymeric material. Because of having a long chain of the raw element of organic material it can be stretched to 5 to 10 times of its original dimension.

How can you say that elastomer can extend up to ten times of their original dimensions?

And tell me. What are its other properties of having such a benefit to it?

ELASTOMER - material with elastic properties: a natural material such as rubber or a synthetic material such as polyvinyl that has elastic properties.

Elastomer is high elastic material used in PIER on Bearing plate (Elastomeric). It can be stretched to 10 time of it's original dimension.
