Most plastics are organic polymers. In chemistry, organic has a different meaning. It refers to chemicals that contain carbon atoms.

Plastics are typically organic polymers of high molecular mass and often contain other substances. They are usually synthetic, most commonly derived from petrochemicals, however, an array of variants are made from renewable materials such as polylactic acid from corn or cellulosics from cotton linters.

In chemistry terminology, plastic is an organic substance because plastics are synthetic materials derived from organic (carbon-containing) compounds.

Plastic is organic mainly, but it may be inorganic also. It depends on the monomeric unit with which it is made by connections. If it is having carbon in main structure then it is simply organic. No doubt in it, but some polymers like silicones, which do not content carbon in it are known as inorganic polymers. But they are less in numbers so majoraly we can say that plastic is a organic substance.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Carbon comprises the majority of plastic substance which makes them organic by nature.
Also, there are several scientists working on plastics using renewable biodegradable materials. They're quite a success using corns.

Plastic is a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, etc. That can be molded into shape while soft, and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form.
