Mastic asphalt, also known as asphalt mastic, is a composite roofing material formulated with a high proportion of bitumen blended with mineral fillers like limestone dust or sand.
Unlike conventional asphalt used for roads, mastic asphalt contains 10-20% bitumen by weight, giving it a thick, adhesive quality similar to a mastic.

Mastic Asphalt products comprise of suitably graded limestone aggregates bound together with asphaltic cement which is primarily refined bitumens. This produces a dense, voidless material. However, it cannot be compacted, and is spread by means of a hand float, rather than being rolled.
Mastic asphalt is used for covering terasses, carparks and pavements, urban roads, public facilities, waterproofing engineering structures and sound insulation.
