Given that initial mass of H2 and CH4 are equal. And take each mass as m kg initially.
Mass of H2 = m kg moles of H2 = m/2;
Mass of CH4 = m kg moles of CH4 = m/16;
Mole fraction of H2 (yH2) = (moles of H2)/(moles of H2 + moles of CH4)
(yH2) = (m/2)/(m/2+m/16) = 8/9.
