Dead zone is a part of the reactor where there is accumulation of solution and no mixing occurs it is normally due to the sharp ends at the corners.

For a good instrument time lag should be zero then only we can get the reading as it is that's why it is undesirable.

Dead zone is corresponds to that range of input frequencies for which output does not change even on changing the input(in that particular range only).

Time delay increases the stability by increasing the PM, so how it could be an undesirable dynamic characteristic?
