What are peptizers?

A substance which causes peptization, or which serves to prevent the coagulation of a colloid suspension; specifically a catalyst used to facilitate the process of mastication or vulcanization of rubber, by preventing the recombination of broken polymer chains.

Mastication, the process by which the viscosity of natural rubber is reduced to a suitable level, is an important step in the mixing process.
