Diesel index and cetane index both are same, it's based on fuel density and distillation range.

There is no relation with diesel index and Cetane number. Cetane number is calculated based on the percentage of Cetane (Hexadecane) in a combustible mixture and Diesel index based on the fuel's density and distillation range.
