The option is B because the question is about the separating component and not the product component. Steam distillation is used to distill mixtures having high boiling point component from non volatile component and where the PDT component is a heat-sensitive material.

For heat-sensitive material, mainly vacuum distillation is considered most of the time.

Every industrial distillation column steam is used in near the bottom because stripped out volatile matter from the less volatile matter.

So, according to me, option B is correct.

Option C is correct when mostly heat sensitive material of organic liquids also in the case of heat sensitive material we used vacuum distillation. So on my side may be B option is also correct.
