At first in batch distillation the feed is preheated. So high volatile component will be more in vapour phase. It will be collected as overhead product. As time goes the overhead product in the feed decreases. So composition also decreases.

Here the reflux is constant so at first as the composition decreases with time the overhead product composition diseases.
If the reflux is increased the the composition of the more volatile can be kept at constant.
