A centrifugal pump has three form of efficiency that aids on pump performance : mechanical efficiency, volumetric efficiency and major part Hydraulic efficiency which includes liquid friction and other losses in the volute and impeller of the pump, these losses are proportional to increase in flow rate, because increasing flow more than re >2100 tends to turbulence and Eddies, skin friction, occurs in the line, fittings etc.

As per centrifugal pump performance curve efficiency first increase with flow rate and after reaching the best efficiency point efficiency goes on decreasing, because any equipments, instruments and electrical designed and fabricated for maximum calibration value after that efficiency decreases.

According to "operating characteristic curve", it is head which decreases monotonically. Efficiency first increases till peak point of it and then decreases. Power consumption is increased monotonically. So, the answer should be "D" in place of A.

Hydraulic efficiency of the pump is defined as the ratio of fluid Power to absorbed power. This efficiency is maximum only at one capacity value. It is lower in other capacities.

So the correct answer should be; increases and then decreases.

Hydraulic efficiency = Q*H.

When Q increases and then H will decrease so here two opposite factor work together so practically it has seen that initially, hydraulic efficiency increase to a BEP and then decrease, so answer D is correct.

In mathematics, a monotonic function (or monotone function) is a function between ordered sets that preserves the given order. This concept first arose in calculus, and was later generalized to the more abstract setting of order theory.

From Pump Characteristic Curve, With an increasing flow rate, the hydraulic efficiency of a centrifugal pump first increase to the peak efficient point and then decreases.

The correct answer is option D.

For centrifugal pumps, the efficiency tends to increase with flow rate up to a point midway through the operating range (peak efficiency) and then declines as flow rates rise further.

Right answer should be D. According to "operating characteristic curve" with increasing flow rate the hydraulic efficiecy is first increase and then decrease.

From the hydraulic efficiency of a centrifugal pump, it is clear that with increase of velocity the hydraulic efficiency will be decreased.
