The causes of cavitation in centrifugal pump is low suction pressure because at the low pressure the boling point of liquid decreases and formed the gas/vapour.

When vapour collapse with high pressure zone creating vibration, noise and damage.

Cavitation in centrifugal pump causes of air Air bauble.

Local boiling of liquid due to increase in velocity is called cavitation. As the velocity increase the pressure falls. The decrease in pressure cause boiling of the liquid in a flow. Thus low suction pressure in centrifugal pump with high velocity causes cavitation.

Cavitation occurs when the suction pressure is less than the vapor pressure due to which air gets trapped into the suction line. To avoid this NPSH is used.

It is also due to high barometric pressure. Due which air bubbles form that leads to cavitation.
