FUMES: solid particles of size 0.1 to 1 micro-meter.but, normally released from the chemical process.
MIST: it is made up of liquid droplets of smaller than micro meter, which are formed by condensation in the atmosphere.
SMOKE: it contains fine particles of the size ranging 0.1 to 1 micro meter which can be liquid or solid and are formed by combustion.
AEROSOLS: in this category are included all air borne suspension either solid or liquid & smaller than 1 micro meter.

Suspensions of particulates in air are called aerosols. These suspensions may be either solid or liquid, and examples of both of these are found throughout nature. Pollen or ice in the air are examples of solid, naturally occurring aerosols. Fog and mist are examples of liquid aerosols.
