The gas phase reaction 2A
B is carried out in an isothermal plug flow reactor. The feed consists of 80 mole % A and 20 mole % inerts. If the conversion of A at the reactor exit is 50%, then CA/CA0 at the outlet of the reactor is

Ca/Cao = 1-Xa/1+Ea*Xa.
Ea= Xa1 - Xa0/Xa0.
Xa1= Moles of A=80=100.
Xa0= moles of B=50.
Ea= (50-80)/80 = 3/8 = 0.375.
Ca/Cao=1-0.5/(1-0.375*0.5).
= 0.5/0.8125 =0.615.
=5/8.
Ea= Xa1 - Xa0/Xa0.
Xa1= Moles of A=80=100.
Xa0= moles of B=50.
Ea= (50-80)/80 = 3/8 = 0.375.
Ca/Cao=1-0.5/(1-0.375*0.5).
= 0.5/0.8125 =0.615.
=5/8.

The Value of Ea is -.4. So by formula, you can get the answer which is 5/8.

Ans should be A.
Ca/Cao = 1-Xa/1+ea*Xa and ea is minus 0.5 for this case.ans is 2/3.
Ca/Cao = 1-Xa/1+ea*Xa and ea is minus 0.5 for this case.ans is 2/3.
